PD Session: Standards-Based Grading in Sylvania Schools!

Come learn about how standards-based grading can transform your students from anxious point-grubbers into reflective learners, your instruction from assignment-driven to data-driven, and your classroom from a comfort zone to a learning zone.

Presented by Lauren Stewart and Blythe Tipping

Presenting last on October 19, 2015 as part of the Sylvania Fall Inservice Day. Next presentation to be announced!

From the ad: “Have you ever looked at the menagerie of assignments and points in your gradebook and wondered, ‘But what do my students actually know?’ Are you tired of your students asking you, “how many points do I need to get an A?” or ‘How can I get extra credit?’ Come learn about how standards-based grading can transform your students from anxious point-grubbers into reflective learners, your instruction from assignment-driven to data-driven, and your classroom from a comfort zone to a learning zone.”

In this session, teachers will learn the principles of standards-based grading and discover how Sylvania Schools PowerSchool can be used to report standards-based grades.

Participants should bring a set of learning targets and a quiz or test from the same unit.
